The Forum for Classics, Libraries, and Scholarly Communications will be holding its annual meeting on Jan. 8, 10-12 Central Time, as part of the AIA/SCS Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA. This will be a virtual session on Zoom. The meeting is open and free: you do not need to register with either the SCS or the AIA to attend. The Library at the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at NYU and the Forum for Classics, Libraries, and Scholarly Communications will host a virtual panel discussion about current trends in the publication, use, and reuse of archaeological data (Excavating the Archaeological Data Cycle: Use, publication, and reuse) at 12pm EST, Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022 in conjunction with ISAW’s Archaeology Day program. The presenters will be Ixchel M. Faniel (OCLC) and Leigh Lieberman (OpenContext/Princeton), followed by a response by Tom Elliott (ISAW). The Forum for Classics, Libraries, and Scholarly Communications will be holding its annual meeting on Jan. 6, 10-12 PST (1-3pm EST / 18:00-20:00 UTC), as part of the AIA/SCS Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA. As with the rest of the meeting, this will be a virtual session on Zoom. The meeting is open and free: you do not need to register with either the SCS or the AIA to attend. We are pleased to invite you to submit proposals for FCLSC-supported panels/colloquia related to libraries and scholarly communications at AIA/SCS 2023. Received proposals will be discussed at the FCLSC virtual meeting on January 6 and voted on for further development within an ad hoc FCLSC committee; the winning proposal will finally be submitted to AIA/SCS by March for their consideration. Hot on the heels of a very successful showing at the remote AIA-SCS 2021 Joint Annual Meeting, Ancient MakerSpaces (AMS) is back and putting together another dynamite program for the next meeting in January 2022. We don’t know yet whether we’ll be in San Francisco, virtual, or hybrid, but we’re ready for any eventuality and we want you to join us!
